West Collierville Girls' Track and Field Repeats as State Champions

The West Collierville Middle School girls' track & field team repeated as state champions at the 2023 TMSAA Track & Field state meet on Saturday at Austin Peay State University.

The Dragons finished with 90 points to put them with a plus-50 margin over second-place White Station.

Grassland, Liberty Bell, and Woodland rounded out the top five.

WCMS won with their depth, scoring in the majority of the events. Alexa Haynes won the shot put and set a new state record in discus. Ehi Aigbomian took 1st place in long jump, the 100 meter dash, and 200 meter dash. Kylie Walden took 1st place in the 400 meter dash. Walden, just a 7th grader, finished 2nd in long jump and 2nd in the 200 meter behind the eight grader, Aigbomian.

Sixth grader Maya Lang came in 4th in the 1600 meter run and finished 8th in the high jump. Seventh grader, Gabrielle Gulstrom, was 6th in the 1600 meter run.

Baylie Robinson, Adriana Nelson ,Amaya Edwards, and Ava Williams took 6th place in the 4x400 meter relay.

Lucy Goodin, Nelson, Zoe Vaughn and Williams finished 8th in the 4 x 200 relay.
