West Collierville Girls Win School's First TMSAA Track and Field State Championship

The West Collierville Middle School girls' track and field team set the record straight that they will be contenders for state championships for years to come. With just one eighth grader qualifying, the WCMS Dragons dominated the state meet on Saturday (May 21) at Franklin High School. The team's athleticism outscored their nearest competitors, Brentwood Middle, 71-45.

The following WCMS athletes won individual state championships in their respective events:

Ehi Aigbomian (Long Jump)
Alexa Haynes (Discus Throw)
Kennedi Woods (400 Meter Dash)

The team's 4 X 100 relay also were crowned state champions.

Sixth grade standouts Zoey Vaughn and Kylie Walden were not phased by the big stage. Vaughn placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash and Walden placed third in the long jump.
