The West Collierville Middle School Lady Dragons basketball team had a 7-4 lead after one quarter in the opening game of the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament. Their opponent, Blackman Middle, then got hot in the second quarter and never cooled down. The Lady Dragons continued to battle throughout the game, but fell short in the end and suffered a 47-25 defeat. A consolation championship is scheduled for 10am at Rockvale High School on Saturday. The Lady Dragons (25-3) will be challenged by Knoxville's West Valley Middle School for an opportunity at a 3rd place finish in the state.
