Lady Dragons Capture 2nd State Championship in Knoxville (2024)
West Collierville Middle School Cross Country

The West Collierville Middle School Lady Dragons delivered a remarkable performance during the 2024 cross country season, culminating in a state championship victory in Knoxville and cementing their place among the top middle school programs in Tennessee.

Throughout the fall season, the Lady Dragons demonstrated depth, determination, and consistency. Week after week, the team competed against some of the strongest middle school programs in the state, steadily improving and building momentum as the championship meet approached.

When the team arrived in Knoxville for the state championship, the stage was set for an exciting showdown. Schools from across Tennessee gathered to compete for the title, bringing together many of the state’s fastest young runners and most competitive teams. The Lady Dragons embraced the moment, running with confidence and discipline.

Leading the charge was standout runner Maya Lang, who continued her dominant season with another impressive performance. Lang had been one of the top middle school runners in Tennessee all year and proved it again at the state meet, helping set the tone for the Lady Dragons’ championship effort.

While Maya Lang led the charge with another strong performance, the state title was truly the result of a complete team effort.

Audrey Maier delivered a key race for the Lady Dragons, continuing her strong season with a top finish that helped secure valuable points for the team. Maier has been a consistent competitor all year and has played a major role in the team’s success.

Amaya Edwards also turned in an outstanding performance at the state meet. Known for her toughness and competitive spirit, Edwards has been one of the team’s most reliable runners throughout the season and stepped up again when it mattered most.

Noor Ceulemans added another strong finish for the Lady Dragons. Her steady improvement throughout the year helped give West Collierville the depth needed to compete for the state title.

Rachel Mullaly also played a crucial role in the championship effort. Cross country is a sport where every position counts, and Mullaly’s race helped strengthen the Lady Dragons’ scoring pack.

The victory was the result of months of preparation. Early morning practices, summer conditioning, and countless miles logged together helped prepare the team for the pressure of the state championship stage. By the time the starting gun fired in Knoxville, the Lady Dragons were ready.

The championship marked a historic moment for West Collierville Middle School, a relatively young school that has quickly developed one of the premier cross country programs in the state. The team’s success reflects not only the talent of its athletes but also the commitment to excellence within the Dragons running community.

As the runners crossed the finish line and the results became official, the celebration began. The Lady Dragons had achieved their goal—bringing home a state championship to Collierville.

The 2024 season will be remembered as a defining chapter in the program’s history, one that showcased the determination, talent, and teamwork that define #WestDragonsXC.
