West Collierville Middle School Principal, Kimberly Shaw, has announced the appointment of Will Smith as Athletic Director.

Smith, the former top-ranked basketball player in Tennessee in 1996 and a Top 50 national recruit out of Hamilton High School, played collegiately at the University of Colorado. He earned All-Freshman honors and was named to Dick Vitale’s “Diaper Dandy” list. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Education from Colorado, as well as a master's degree in Business Administration. He brings over a decade of Division I coaching and athletic administrative experience from his time in Boulder and at Northern Illinois University.

In 2018, Smith returned to Memphis to become Athletic Director and head men's basketball coach at his high school alma mater, where he led the team to a state championship and was named TSSAA Basketball Coach of the Year.

Currently serving as the In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator at WCMS, Smith is also an assistant coach for the boys’ basketball team. His leadership and deep roots in the Memphis sports community is expected to impact the athletic programs momentum at WCMS.

Smith replaces veteran West Collierville athletic director, David Culbertson, who retired at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
